Eve-I would gladly pay if this works. I often wonder how they decide if you need serotonin or dopamine. I don't know what the MTHFR genre mutation is but I know what it sounds like, lol, and if decreases chances to 6% then its fitting.
I think I might try for a psychiatrist again, I was declined a couple years ago. They should know the most about the meds and symptoms.

If you have the MTHFR gene mutation, you could have as low as a 6% chance of antidepressants helping you. The test is worth it, even if you have to pay the full amount out of pocket.

Yup. I have it. I am so thankful I have a psychiatrist who is very knowledgeable about my genetic test results and the MFTHR gene defect. Far more so than my GP. My Psychiatrist sent me to a website called Methylpro. The Methyfollate there is very expensive but they want me on 900mg methylfollate.Right now all I can afford is the 400mcg but take 5 a day. Had to build up slowley though because it made feel sick at first which is normal if you are very deficient like I was. My Psychiatrist also said not to fully rely on blood tests for follate levels because 65% of what it shows in my system is not usable.

@brat17 I will send you the information later today, gonna try and get some more sleep first.The thing with the mfthr gene is there is a lot of information out there about how to treat it yourself. There are a lot of websites you can plug you dna results into that well help you figure out exactly what supplements you need and even what to stay away from if you are positive for MFTHR. I am thrilled to have a psychiatrist who can confirm all of this, but it isn't needed.
