Feeling Overwhelmed!

SHe recommended taking a pillow with me wherever I go (hey, she said, folks carry far weirder stuff around than a pillow!). SO I am going to see my lawyer tomorrow with a pillow

If you put the pillow in a large soft bag you can use it easily and while carrying it, it just looks like an extra bag from shopping.
 
Thanks! What a good idea. I shall do that and put my Gatorade in the bag too, so I can keep everything organized. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC sent me this really cool shopping bag a few years ago. I use it for all kinds of stuff, but I had not thought of putting my pillow in it.
 
Well, tomorrow will be my yearly visit to the skin Dr. You know? The Dr. that you have to take off all your cloths for and stand there in your "birthday suit" to be examined from head to toe. There is a history of skin cancer in my family, so I have to go through this yearly ordeal. The Dr. is a man. There is no lady skin Dr. in this area. So, I have no choice.

Being the victim of adult rape and also of childhood molestation, you can imagine what I go through every year having to face this ordeal and then survive it. I am already a bundle of nerves.

Please pray for me, as I am dreading this. I cannot wait for it to be all over with.

On top of everything else, of course, I have to take the bus there and back, which means my Sciatica will be affected as well. The road that goes to his office is long and winding and my back with be "put through the wringer" as usual....

I'm praying for you SheilaKathy! Those skin doctor visits are tough but they are worth it. I had one a few years ago that was super triggering but it was worth it because they caught something before it turned serious. I hope it is over with quickly for you. Maybe plan some self care for afterwards. That's what I like to do :)
 
Maybe think of that book you mentioned @SheilaKathy, you're going to the skin doc, because you love yourself enough, to go through an uncomfortable situation... I'll think of you. Maybe just a little thought; While I understand your fear of that examination, I'd like to suggest, that you try to not repeat again and again what an ordeal it is, and how you have to "survive" it. As the path of "negative thinking" will get deeper and broader, every time you repeat this negation. Be it in writing, telling, or thinking...

So what could you think instead of those negations? Maybe that you love yourself that much, that you're taking on the loving responsibility, to look after your own health and well-being? Or that you will go into that examination and holding your head up high, proud of yourself, of your strength, to not let fear and other difficult feelings stop you from doing what is good for you?:)

Thanks for the suggestions. I shall be doing the best I can to keep a positive mental outlook. I have been working on that since I wrote the above note, actually. I like the confirmation of you folks having suggested things like that too. And yes, the book on LOVING YOURSELF is helping too!
