Fishing To Calm Down

I am not afraid of water, just drowning in it. I like to swim in lakes, and pools. I like fishing of course, I just have a fear of drowning. So never went deep sea or deep lake fishing.
So I am afraid of drowning, but will jump from 10987e9r8237-8 feet out of a perfectly good aircraft, and what a friggin rush. :giggle:

And the irony is that 90% of drownings happen if fresh water (rivers, lakes and pools), 10 % in sea water!

William -the absolute rush is jumping from 20k feet at night into the water. You had better trust that altimiter a lot as everything is shades of black/blue. Hitting the water is like hitting concrete but its wet. And warm/freezing cold.
I love free falling. It made me feel like a bird. Its is so much fun to free fall through a cloud and get all wet. Nothing --not even sex is as good. (as long as the chute opens and you walk away) I can agree that it is a lot of fun. Scuba esp with a rebreather so the fish are not disturbed. Thats another planet in itself. you might not like swiming but scuba is a different show. You might give it a try as its a little like skydiving. I used to do both a lot. Even in my off time.

That's O.K., Gentlemen, I'll fly you up and watch you jump but this ol' boy is gonna hang onto that bird as long as the props are turning! Used to drop the 82nd over the Blackstone DZ. Used to amaze me that they would jump up and go blasting out the door like they were hurrying off to the supermarket.

Give me a loud, vibrating, hydraulic stenching "herc" any time.

Hey Dan,

I went scuba diving off the coast of East Timor. As there had been a shit load of fighting going on, the sea life had grown. I went down with another guy using an 'Octopus' if you know what I mean. I ended up pushing away and was so blown away by the sights, I could have just stayed there and died. Its so peacful and colorful.

Mornin' guys! I learned to scuba in Okinawa. The water is beautiful there and the sealife is really amazing. Growing up in Florida I've been around water all my life and love it. I'd rather be in the water than on land. You're right Jimmy, when I'm under the water its so peaceful that I don't want to go up. Sometimes I would just sit on the bottom and watch the fish go by. Calm, relaxing, and quiet. Hmmmm, maybe its time to get back underwater?

Jimmy the only problem with using a octopus is you burn up your air 2x's faster. I can understand the desire to stay forever. The you start to thing you will bedome crab food. ewwww. so its back to breathing.
Deb, I lived in Cocoa Beach for a while as a kid. I loved Florida as a kid but not as much now. I have done some scuba off Okinawa and some off of the PI and Guam. My dad was a Marine and we got to trave a bit with him. Guam had a LOT of sharks.

Fishing! Yuk! Can I just sit on the boat and catch rays?
Deb we should all get a party boat and the guys that fish can while u catch rays and we all can chat. Bailey even has her own life vest she loves boats. Me personally I havent had a pole in the water since early Jan. My damn arm still killin me- Anybody know if there is a one handed fishing pole maybe a rig you can hook into againt your side while you reel with the good hand.

Tim, I just got a huge catalog from Cabella's and will look thru it to see if there is some sort of harnes that you can strap on to hold your rod and be able to wind the reel. Be back later.

I am hearing you Tim.

I have had my right shoulder operated on twice. The last time they connected my bicep tendon to the top of my arm near the shoulder. They said it had torn off the bone and they could not thread it back.
It still works the same, sort of. I can't play gold anymore because I have a real mean slice, but my back has screwed that. Give it a bit more Tim and you will be fishing again.
Have you tried using the real with the other arm and just grasping the rod with your bad one, or is it still that shit.

Naw, all Cabela's has was some rod holder type things that clamped down to the sides of boats or a rail or something. Would kinda of take the fun of playing them out of it. I'll keep my eye open. You know fishermen, they'll eventually figure out a way to wet a hook!

Deb, did you dive at Mida Point in Oki? I dove there twice and holy cats, the whole reef was like a giant aquarium. Tropical fish of most every color and Angelfish 10 inches tall. Heaven on earth.

I'll take that into consideration.
