Wanted to Thank everyone for the stories and encouragement, it's very tough to make the decision to do this, and even harder to implement doing it. It will be tough going later this month when I go to our state fair for my birthday. I will most likely fall off the wagon and cheat on the sugar thing. I love the fair, and the food.... OMG!!!! I'm giving myself permission to cheat this one day, so I'll see how it goes.

@Justmehere I hear you about the cholesterol. Mine isn't bad, but.... my latest MRI in March, on my lower back, showed significant plaque buildup on my abdominal aorta.... so this was a bit concerning. Although it really hasn't sunk in till lately. To tell the truth, when I heard it, I just figured f*ck it, I was in excruciating pain at that time, and figured I'd just eat whatever and if I f*cking died I really didn't care. Pain, can make you think a bit crazy after long term dealing with it....

Again, thanks for all the positive encouragement!!!

It takes about two weeks for the craving for sugar to go away. If you can make it two weeks, sugar craving go completely away.

Thanks for giving me the inspiration to give up sugar again. I had a lot of success last time, but slowly sugar started creeping it's way back into my life.

@Fadeaway it's been 2 weeks and yesterday was a bitch. I was craving sugar so bad!!!! Didn't give in to the urge, but gee whiz it was really bad. Found myself overeating just to make the urge go away. Kind of dumb, but at the time it was the only thing to do.

It's been over two years since I gave it up, and the cravings still hit me like a ton of bricks on occasion. Depending on what's going on around me and how well I can navigate it all determines a lot. Having medjool dates, fresh fruit, and cinnamon on hand helps a lot during those times. Baked banana bites, baked apples, and grab and go sweet fruits (the original fast food...lol) are my saving graces, currently.

@She Cat Well Done for quitting sugar. You have inspired me.

I find it hard as due to allergies and choice I already have a strict diet to adhere to; no nuts, gluten, soy, seeds, grains, diary, meat.
When feeling rough I sometimes sneak in a seed bar or spelt cake or over do it on fresh fruit and dried fruits - these are lethal for me.

Anyway, tomorrow I vow to have no allergens and just keep it in the day. Thanks for the inspiration:)
