One of my friends has been teaching me about gratefulness.
His therapist told him that it’s impossible to feel anything negative while being grateful. (Ok, not arguing the “impossible” bit as that’s tangential to my point.) He set an hourly alarm on his phone to remind him to think of things that he’s grateful for.
I was inspired by him to do the same. I now have an hourly alarm on my phone to remind me to think of things I’m grateful for. I use the “alarmed” app. I have a chime that alerts me when my sound is on, and a pop up reminder as well.
It’s amazing how this has really changed my thinking! At first it was a struggle but now I have no problems thinking of things I’m grateful for.
It’s just a little reminder to think of something positive every hour. It helps that my home screen / wallpaper is a pic of my newborn nephew, smiling like crazy.
Just thought I’d share this little idea because I thought it might help others, too.
