does it have a name, the disorder?
Don't laugh. Symptoms of loud noises when falling asleep or waking are part of Exploding head syndrome.

i asked because it happens to me. the loud noise or my name- a lot. most of the time.
k- i guess its a stupid name but thanks. now i have something i can look into and hopefully fix- or manage.
It one of the 12 step books it said we are all abnormally fearful or words to that effect. I was afraid in that house I grew up in and so was my sister. I never really got over it. This house seems fine. The last one I was still scared to death in the basement and had to fight not to run up the stairs in terror.
I'm always hearing things it's annoying and more than once in the last place (my mother in law died in that house). I walked around yelling "is anyone here". And "I'm armed."
I was really amazed a couple times given what I heard to see no one.
This house everyone including the neighbors are so close it's hard to feel like that. I don't really mind it.
