You know the ones I mean, the ones that make you take a sharp intake of breath and think "This is how it should be always"
I had one today, totally unexpected and it nearly made me cry, one I will remember for ever.
I had picked my grandchildren up and taken them into town for lunch, they are only 3 and 4 1/2, but love going out with grandma. I have not taken them out together before as the youngest can be a bit of a handful if he is that way out. So today was a bit of a risk on my part as I have been a bit stressed for a few days.
We went to McDonald's for lunch, which they both ate, bit of a treat as it is not something they eat a lot of. We then went for a walk around a German Christmas market, they never asked for a thing, just enjoyed looking at all the fancy wind chimes and wooden toy's, plus all the other stuff they had. We saw dancing toy bears and monkeys in a big display case, they loved that.
After a few hour the little one was getting tired, so we headed back to catch a bus, having told them I would get them some gingerbread reindeer's to take home.
I decided it would be nice to walk through an enclosed shopping arcade to show them the big Christmas tree in there.
This is where my heart melted.
As we walked in, there was a small brass band playing Christmas carols. there was I with a grandchild holding each of my hands, at Christmas with a brass band playing. We stopped for a second to listen, and I looked down at them and thought,
"This is how it should be always"
They had been so good all the time we were out, it was a pleasure to be out with them. No nattering for anything, no running off, no complaining, just a wonderful few hours.
A few months ago someone told me to remember what makes me smile.
It is my wonderful grandchildren who do it no matter how bad things get with my sufferer.
