How did you use mindfulness today?

Awhile back I mentioned that I would ask my therapist about Mindfulness Games and see what she might be able to come up with, for personal use at home between sessions....

So I ordered two items online. One is called STRESS LESS CARDS - 50 and the other is called EMPOWERING QUESTIONS CARDS. It has 52 cards in it. I ordered these from Amazon, but you might be able to find them elsewhere. These both looked as if they would be pretty helpful. Mine are on their way here, so I cannot say yet how well they are helpful. I'll post about them again once I start using them.

Relaxing Guitar Music, Soothing Music, Relax, Meditation Music, Instrumental Music to Relax, ☯2763

This video has some really peaceful music and is of a bunch of fish swimming in the ocean. It is a mindful thing too, to watch and enjoy!

  • Got up earlier than usual and harvested a basket full of red clover to dehydrate and preserve for my herbal infusions.
  • Harvested fresh spinach and radishes to add to my morning juice.
  • Talked to the bunny rabbit, the deer, the crows, the blue birds, the sparrows, the finches, the spiders, the swarm of gnats, the bumble bees, flutter bys, dragon flies, etc. that crossed my path.
  • Admired the tulip poplar blooms, smelled the honeysuckle, lemon balm, peppermint, and the peonies.
  • Walked barefoot in the morning dew covered grass.
  • Watered the veggies and herbs.
  • Used the above tasks as a chance to stretch more and and curl the giant watering can to tone the arms.

I found a set of cards (and an app for them if you prefer having things on your phone or computer) and they are called:
STRESS LESS CARDS and the app is available at Stress Less Cards

There are 50 cards in the deck and you get all kinds of interesting info on each card, about how to be more mindful and how to love yourself more and others too. There are some really helpful ideas in these cards! Check it out. Also, the 1st 5 cards are available for free with the App.

  • Allowed some more yuck-as-f*ck feelings to surface, once I finally got tired of wrestling with them, and let them wash/gush away in the form of tears.
  • Did some primal screaming into a pillow quite a few times.
  • Shook that energy off, much like a dog does.
  • Played the Native American flute a little, mostly to talk to the doves, until the leaking and squeaking got out of hand.
  • Ventured out to mow some grass while practicing deep breathing and loving kindness, until the rain arrived....again.
  • Had a great talk with the dragon fly that consistently hovered right next to my head most of the time awaiting his afternoon buffet options.
  • Ventured back indoors and packaged up dehydrated radish greens and prepped some more as I reminded myself of the nurturing abundance that surrounds that I used to never even notice, much less respect.
  • Made a tea date with one of my favorite folks next week to celebrate a couple things.
  • Visited my favorite online spaces that bring a sense of comfort and remind me that as much as I may feel alone/alien/"out there", I'm really not, although alone tends to still be my preference more often than not as of late.

Your mention of the dragon fly reminds me of a conversation I had with a Monarch Butterfly one time. He lit onto my hand for a good 5 minutes while we were at eye level with one another. Finally when my arm got tired, he left. This was years ago, but I will never forget it!

Also, I often have conversations with bees, assuring them I won't hurt them. They do not bite me!

  • Spent time clipping the sucker leaves off the tomato plants to help the fruit get more of the mojo and sunshine they need, reminding me of how important it is to eliminate some of my own clutter/energy sucker stuff.
  • Visited the dog and the horses next door.
  • Spent time in the morning sun, barefoot in the grass, as I practiced breathing exercises.
  • Dug out a couple craft projects and got some pending things done.
  • Finally wrapped the hula hoops I'd already made so they're now ready to donate.

I monitored my thoughts and asked myself "Is this useful?" and "Is this productive?" A lot of my thinking is neither... I redirected my thoughts.
I collected pine cones for the parrot with a broken leg.

made sure to notice what was around me today periodically and let the anxiety wash over me instead of fighting it. Tried to use my wise mind evaluating my challenging situation. Blasted the air conditioner in my face to ground when started drifting off. Tried to do non judgment of my hyper vigilance to my challenging situation with a little success at the time.
