How did you use mindfulness today?

I stuck to a commitment to start the day with music and reflection (again, finally—this was an amazing tool I stopped using sometime in winter) instead of escaping into articles or other mental busywork I use to disappear in the morning. Somehow music sets the pace for my day if I am reflective when I wake up and it’s playing. I listen to music these days with either no vocals or vocals that are more incidental than substantial. It felt sooo good.

Great thread @Justmehere!

Was good to get back to group, good facilitator, mixes up 20ish min guided meditations and drops thier own subtle backgrounds in, also makes paper strips with essential oils to hand out for people that like them, then did a grounding exercise, doing cycles of deep breath, counting back from 10 while foucusing on where you feel to place positive energy for balance. Now if I can somehow figure out how to not sub consciously slip into hypervigilance and catastrophizing and stay positive,.... ?

I made 25 burritos for the rest of the month. I made myself slow down and really feel, see, smell and taste what I was doing. Had to keep reminding myself but it's a step in the right direction.

I picked up my crocheting again, after leaving it sitting there over the summer (it was too hot to crochet). Well, mindfulness just kind of comes automatically when I do this. I miss things if I don't pay close attention. Anyway,, I could feel, smell, see, even hear the stitches as I stitched them. I didn't taste them though! LOL...

Sunbathed for 20ish minutes while practicing alternate nostril and diaphragmatic breathing, took my camera for a short walk, watched a hawk through the binoculars munch on a green tomato hornworm then clean his beak off on the tree branch, visited a friend who offers sound baths with Tibetan singing bowls and a gong, pulled over and soaked up the view of the perfectly timed rainbow, and spent time in one of my favorite mindful spaces...the kitchen...whipping up goodies to share and prepping for making more tomorrow.

I ate mindfully, which helps me appreciate what I have to eat, and assists in not eatingtoo much.
I also read a book, so I didn't go into my head, this is really working for me.

I showed up for something that I've been avoiding committing to in various arenas for quite some time.

I listened more than I spoke.

I shared things I hand crafted that mean a lot to me and gave folks space to figure them out in their own way and time, rather than barking instructions or stepping in to show them how I do it, and celebrated their accomplishments.

I made sure to take snacks that my gut and brain benefit from rather than giving in and going to the food trucks.

I paid something forward that I never thought I'd part with in order to brighten the day of another whose heart has taken one hell of a beating as of late.
