I've always been the first person to finish eating. I attribute this to having to sit at the table with my family and my mother not allowing me to return to video games until I finished all my food. So, I would eat ridiculously fast. Now it's so ingrained that I have to pay attention in social situations to how fast other people are eating so as to not embarrass myself. I have noticed that when stresses, this rapid eating and result in mowing down way too much food, way too quickly. Fortunately, I usually catch this in time.

I eat really slowly. People call attention to it all the time. I think it may be related to control and my history of anorexia. I cook a lot, and I can be starving, cook for two hours, and then wait 30 minutes before eating. When I do eat, I tend to eat slowly, even though I'm ravenous, even if my blood sugar is plummeting. It's like I want to prove that I really don't want it that badly.

I've been finding more and more that self-denial has been a trend in my life. Denying myself basic things, like air or food, seems to be linked to my childhood ability to squelch the need for other basic things, like compassion and respect.

My "sufferer" eats... well... actually he sometimes eats like an animal... like somebody is trying to steaal his food. We sometimes quarrel about this because I think he is setting a bad example for the kids. Others have complained to me about his table manners. Yes, it is really bad.
Maybe we shouldn't. I am not sure if it is caused by his PTSD or just poor table manners.
Sometimes I think he does it to drive me or drive other people away. Isolating maybe. AparT from his table manners he has good manners.

I have always eaten fairly slowly, but since training in mindfulness, it's much worse. LOL Now, I eat deliberately.

And honestly, I hate it.

Yes, I eat super fast, always finish first. I think it is because I was homeless for 3 years and during that time period I could only afford Ramen Noodles. Sometimes that is all I had in a whole day, either that or Mac&Cheese. I used to eat slowly before then, I think.
