That's all. I've had a really rough few months. I have even taken time to write farewell letters to my family. I'm moving passed that but I don't want to cope. I do not want to struggle to learn to cope.

I want to work to thrive. So I'm currently very depressed but trying to take a new outlook. I am unemployed and I'm going to use this as a chance to find a passion that makes me money. Also, I'm going to spend the extra free time with loved ones for now. I am going to learn how to thrive, not cope. It'll be a slow thing but I think I've got this

I guess it depends on your definition of coping. I have heard people telling each other that they are 'coping really well'. That is an acknowledgement that they are doing a grand job in what are challenging circumstances. It is a very positive affirmation of not just thriving, but thriving "against the odds".

I hear your depression but am pleased to read that you are trying a new outlook. Of course that is no easy route, but stating your intention is a very big first step - so well done for that.

I hope you find your money making passion, and I am glad that you are seeking the company of loved ones. All in all a very positive post In my opinion!!

Thriving is a good ambition... but coping skills and maintenance is what sustains it. It is curious to me that you aspire to thrive but think or thought that coping is a "struggle"... think I'd be reinvestigating that thought.

In your way, with your terms though screen-name, how/whatever gets you moving forward, huh?

Thanks for the replies. It's just that coping to me feels like never ending struggle right now. Perhaps that's not the correct or best way to look at it.

Thriving comes after we have not only learned coping skills but have practiced them and found what works best for us.

You're on a good path. Keep pushing on.
