I was diagnosed 18 years ago. I suppressed my issues and ignored them. It wasn't until the reality of possibly loosing the love of my life due to lack of acceptance that i'm finally seeking treatment. The road of help scares the shit out of me. But loosing him scares me more.

Did you begin therapy then and stop, or never start at all?

This is the best place to get yourself ready for therapy and healing.
Talking it out with others who know what you are going through has been incredibly helpful for me.

Welcome to the site! Anything new and out of your comfort zone can be scary so I get it.
My sufferer is in his 6th week of treatment. It took awhile for him to notice the benefits but now he is glad he started.

I began therapy but I was 16 and not really wanting to hear what anyone had to say. My avoidance phase lasted a very long time. There were periods I didn't believe my diagnosis and just ignored it.

Welcome, Erin! I have to admit, I think about PTSD and treatment as the push I needed to finally defeat my demons. I don't like doing the work, but I look at every completed session as one step closer to recovery.

Yeah, I know, I'm kinda weird. :)
