So a little background: I've mentioned a couple times I'm being placed with a service dog. I'm getting ready to go to a training orientation this weekend.
Without giving too much information that could identify me or the organization, I was in a situation where I felt I was being isolated. The policy was meant to be in my best interest/was an attempt to make things easier, but I knew it would in fact cause me more stress and handicap me socially with the other participants and staff members.
So I wrote out my reasoning, and requested the changes I needed. I didn't really ask permission, just stated here's what makes sense to me, here's the problems I see, and following this logic here's what I believe should be done. The changes are being made and while I'm still nervous I feel better, because I'll be getting what I need, but also because I was brave enough to state my position and I feel like I was really heard.
Just wanted to share. It seems small, but it's so hard for me to not just go with the flow and follow the rules, even when I know it will frustrate me and stress me out.
