I don't have a huge background in the corporate world, but your experience sounds pretty "normal". Someone I know who works in marketing just got laid off. She had worked for that company as a permanent, full time employee for several years. It was HR that talked to her. I think that's just the way they do things, for everyone. In her case, she had to leave the building immediately and was allowed to come back later to clear out her desk. Mind you, she wasn't fired for cause. She was laid off because they had decided her job was redundant. It doesn't sound like it was personal, it's just "the way they do things". She had looked for this job a long time and was kind of freaked out about having another long search ahead of her. It's been a few weeks. She's got several prospects, all with better companies than the last one. It could work that way for you too. (Let's hope!)
Meanwhile, you DO want to do more than they needed from you in your current job. When you're looking, it was a temporary job to get your foot in the door. You've learned things. You have more potential and more to offer to your next employer than you've been able to do so far.
(It will be ok!)

I don't remember the specifics of that. I'm wondering if it's possible that she has some issues with the company herself and is looking for others to be "on her side". It's possible she's coming on that strong just because it's very important to her and she doesn't realize how she comes off. In any case, your job, now, is to find a better job. You can hang out with all the old messages about you being a failure if you want to, but I wouldn't do it very long. None of it's true and none of it's helpful. Your life is ahead of you, not behind you.She is the same woman who tried telling me to leave this place from day 1 she started working there
