I think I hit the wrong button and left an empty message, but I am new to this site, which I found when I was looking for reviews on the Sheppard Pratt hospital. I am 47, female, and have been suffering from PTSD, complex PTSD since I was in my early 20s. I've been hospitalized multiple times, usually for depression and bipolar, but I did spend six weeks in River Oaks several years ago. I have I have been experiencing severe PTSD syndrome symptoms recently, and I'm in an outpatient program locally, but it is not enough. I am trying to start the process with my primary psychiatrist to fill out the paperwork for Sheppard Pratt. It seems like there is a lot of work to get in there. But it does sound like it's a worthwhile place to go. they currently have three week waiting period, so I just want to get on the list. I am looking forward to reading everybody's postings, Sharing experiences in coping and hopefully finding strength and help through all of you.

Welcome Shells! I'm new here too. Also 47. I'm glad you're getting to where you want to be (Sheppard Pratt). A 3 week waiting list is encouraging. That's not too long of a wait. I'm looking forward to hearing from you in posts.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'm feeling kind of surreal even posting here and getting prepared to go to Sheppard Pratt. It's so good not to feel alone.
