I am beyond infuriated right now. I am disabled with SSDI and my only insurance is Medicare. Three weeks ago I learned I had Medicaid as my secondary insurance according to Medicare. Long story short I don't have Medicaid (state made an error) and been trying to resolve this on a state and county levels. My therapists ofc called today to drop me as a client due to this insurance issue and offered me referrals I declined because with this Medicaid attached as the secondary insurance I will be where I am today. It really sucks because she was the first therapist I opened up to and shared the trauma with and drops me because shes afraid she could be in legal trouble with the insurance.

Reached out to Medicaid and said they need to fix this error immediately this is locking me services.

Try googling for the Medicaid ombudsman in your state. They might be able to help. Also, your mediciaid may be backdated, and that might help reassure your therapist as well.

I finally cleared up the Medicaid issue today. What sucks is I did find another therapist earliest appt is mid February :(

I'm so glad Medicaid is cleared up!

Does the therapist have a cancellation list? Are they aware of how badly you are struggling? Sometimes they can work someone in sooner when the need is strong. They may also have suggestions on another place where you might be able to get in sooner. Sometimes finding medicaid providers can stink though. I hope something works out for you more quickly!

The therapist I had set up went out on medical leave. I am banging my head trying to find someone who knows how to treat complex trauma. I don't think a regular ptsd therapist can help as I read these are two very different treatments. There are no medicare providers near me. I reached out to local mental health, nami, and 211 with no luck. I know through the hospitals there therapist but you have to pay more to use the hospital the copays that was 20% becomes 40% I cant afford that..I tired....and I am about to be hitting one on my bigger triggers in a few days and it could be dangerous for me.

If you started to see this therapist already, then they should set you up with proper referrals. Even if you have not yet seen them, I'd still consider contacting them and asking for referrals.

I have PTSD from complex trauma, and I found that a therapist trained in treating PTSD with at least one trauma treatment technique has been more than sufficient.

The beginning phase of therapy should be about stabilization anyhow, and getting lots of good tools and resourcing skills under one's belt. There should not be any trauma work done at the get go, especially if someone is on the edge of a dangerous crisis. Especially in your state, even a trauma informed therapist is better than nothing.

If you have Medicare and Medicaid, and the provider (like at the hospital) takes both forms of insurance, then Medicaid should pay the medicare co-pay, no matter the percent. That should not even be an issue.

You can also trying contacting Medicaid and asking for ideas and options.
