Is There Any Of You Who Shines His Shoes Because Of Combat Ptsd?

Just curious.
Since I have started talking to other spouses I have realized that a lot of our hubbys sometimes do act OCD-like and I have been reading a bit on this board now and also realized that a lot of the guys here act OCD like...

... and I am just curious if any of you shines his shoes over and over again because of PTSD / helps him relax.

My husband sometimes does this when he is stressed in a specific situation. I think he does not want me to go into detail.

I know that this may be a stupid question. Just curious.

I can't say that I particularly do something like that when I am stressed, but if I have some things to think through I will do something like that because it helps me to focus.

I have enjoyed doing repetitive things that put me in a calm almost meditative state, but they are productive - like cutting the stems off spinach, filing my nails, working out, etc. It gets my blood pressure on an even keel.

I think its the ritual he finds soothing. I used to clean my tools and weapons like that. Its also part of military training to keep well polished shoes. So I think its two fold. its not harming anything so just let him have his thing you know?

Yes, he finds it relaxing.

I am not trying to stop him. I used to hate it but not anymore. I was just curious because so many of the guys here wrote about their / their husbands OCD-like behaviour.
