Is This Normal - Constant Shaky Hands?

So for the last week or so, the days/nights have been really bad and I'm having nightmares every night and my triggers are almost all the time - it used to be very specific things (like the smell of beer) but now it's getting to where if I see anyone of the male specie it just spirals from there.

As a result, I've been having really bad anxiety, when it comes to sleeping or going it. Though over the last couple days I seem to have some kind of prolonged anxiety where my hands are constantly shaking and I feel so on edge (10x what I normally/used to feel) it's unbelievable.

I'm trying to draw my boyfriend something for our 6 months on Saturday (it's a thing between us, don't judge :p) but I can't because my hands are all over the place. I can't write either, which is a problem since I have a college application form to fill in this weekend.

Does anyone have any tips on how to reduce this shaky-ness? I'm going to the doctors tomorrow, but I need something like now.. if even possible. :s

And is this normal? To have constantly shaky hands and such after a week or so of bad nights/days?

It's happened to me just because of not getting enough sleep. Throw in high levels of anxiety and it makes sense your hands would be shakey. If it is anxiety, then anything that helps your body get rest and to relax will probably help your hands shake less over time. (So easy to say, so hard to do.) Things that help me physically sometimes can help, like eating well and being well hydrated. Sometimes electrolytes can help.

I hope you are able to finish the drawing (that's sweet!) and maybe you could do the college application online?

Thank you Justmehere. :)
The college application has to be hand written and then taken in, weird college. And I hope so too, I'm going to try spend most of today on the drawing and hopefully with frequent breaks and taking 3 hours to do each part should be alright.

Thanks for the tips, I will try eat better, I'll admit, that's not been happening lately so maybe that's an added cause. Thanks again!

Liana, for me, the constant shaking of my hands is outward expression of my anxiety. Do you have techniques that you use to calm yourself down, when the anxiety gets too bad for you? Like a long hot shower/bath, aroma therapy with a smell that you associate good experiences with, or meditation, if you're able to.

As for the handwritten application for university, that's normal for some post-secondary institution. In 1990, when I was applying for university, I had to a handwritten application for one of my choices.

Are you currently on any medications? I ask because a side effect of many medications (especially psychotropics), is shaky hands. Just a thought...

I've also experienced shaky hands from high levels of anxiety. I can only reinforce what others have already mentioned about using any grounding and self soothing methods you may have.

Take care of yourself! And you're not alone! :)

therisa - I haven't figured out anything yet, I'm still trying and usually what does help is calling my boyfriend or doing something else..

TimeToHeal - I'm not on any medication. And I'll try find some- hings that help, it'd be useful in the future I guess. :)

It sure sounds like anxiety, but in the off chance your potassium is low (from diarrhea or whatever), try some Gatorade.

I have had shaky hands from both situations in my life. I hope it passes soon!

Ugg, I cannot get them to stop shaking either! I believe my shaking is from the anxiety, but I'm new to this and that is my self-diagnosis.
