Im running into some what of an issue i have discovered that one of my main triggers is part of my own body my arms are covered in scars some cigarette burn scars and some self inflicted scars i plan on getting tattoo's to cover and hopefully aid me in my recovery process but tattoos are expensive and i am unable to start them yet is there anyway that i can cover them or do something to help so that i dont trigger off them i've tried wearing long sleeves but i tend to notice them more even with a long sleeve because i sit and think about why im wearing sleeves any advice would be great thx

I have burn scars on my back that i've had laser treatment on. Then I'm getting tattoos. I also had extensive laser therapy on my face where I was burned. I don't know of any cheaper alternatives. Trauma is expensive. I don't think that even with covering them you'll be okay unless you can stop the thought process of thinking about them. It's hard, and it'll always be with you, but I don't feel nearly as bad about mine as I used to.

When my scars on my arms were more visible I started wearing cute arm warmers. You can find them in all sorts of colors and patterns. For me at least it was nice choosing colors I thought were pretty or mixing and matching to suit my outfits or spice up my otherwise somewhat drab wardrobe. I also really like the feel of them. Something about having a cuff to fidget with and just my fingers free. Don't know if that would help you temporarily.

I hope you're able to start on tattoos soon.

I really like the arm warmer suggestion :) They can be cute, funky, chic, sleek, masculine (bracers, arm guards... Look in archery or hawking, although some tech Emerson's are coming out to hold iPhones n schtuff), feminine, fuzzy&warm or sheer&cool, etc. Maybe the same problem as long sleeves, but also maybe not, if they're for style or function.

Another thought would be glitter tattoos. Essentially they're superglue & pixie dust... Lol although there are matte dusts so they don't have to sparkle!... They last for 2-3 months. You can learn to do them yourself, or get them done. I sometimes do them on top of existing ink that is going to be exposed to harsh sunlight for awhile just to protect the color, or on bare skin for negative-tattoos, since I tan quite dark.

I got used to wearing cardigans, and now they don't feel so strange. I love it when armwarmer season comes back.

Have you tried a commercial scar remover, or the home remedy - vitamin E and rose-hip oil? Scars need a lot of massaging to break down the rigid tissue, and the oil helps do something too....or maybe just makes it easier to rub. Anyway, back when I did need to get rid of scars, I was actually very successful with just rubbing them back down, with the E and oil. The more difficult ones, I had laser work done.

Also, FYI - I changed your title because we don't use trigger warnings on the forum. Pretty my anything here could trigger anyone, so people are responsible on their own for what they look at. Putting information in the title about the content helps everyone avoid what they want to avoid. And welcome! :)
