Last Piece Of Business

My divorce was final early January 2012. One item that was unresolved was for me to remove my name from the deed to the house we had bought together. Of course it is my responsibility to create the Quit Claim Deed, get it signed, notarized, etc. I haven't done this...until today!!! I have a co-worker who is a notary, so I will have her notarize my signature and then give him the document. I figure that puts the ball in his court for him to sign, be notarized and record it at the county. I mean, I shouldn't have to do everything.

Anyway, this is the last legal tie between the two of us and it is being resolved! This feels good. Well, sad, but also good. It officially closes that chapter of my life. I kind of feel that sense of loss again, just like I did when the divorce was officially final. I don't understand it. I would think these feelings would be gone by now. Regardless, I've done my part it is now time to fully move on!

My divorce was final January 2011 (after having been kicked out of the house a mere 50 days prior). I am still on the house. This was helpful to me. My ex-husband forced a no lawyer situation. I assumed he'd take care of these things. He is getting remarried in 15 days and I think it is time. Thank you for sharing.

Mission accomplished. I delivered the signed and notarized forms, he needs to run with it from there. I have mixed feelings about this. I should be happy.

I don't think a divorce is a 'happy' thing.... it might be a 'good' thing but it doesn't go hand in hand with happiness even if the outcome is long term happiness. :hug:

I think relief and might be an easier term to use. I can't imagine ever feeling happy about divorce. It is painful. I know I felt very much like a failure. Please be kind to yourself during this difficult time.

Divorce is never easy piratelady.

Looking back is never easy either, but what you can do is look back and say I did the best I could, but it was obviously not good enough for him.

Try to look forward now, knowing the life lessons you have learned will help you grow stronger.

Take good care of yourself and spoil yourself too, you are worth it.
