Hi, and welcome. Firstly... where you diagnosed Bi-Polar before suffering trauma? If not, then you likely are not Bi-Polar, but just PTSD, as Bi-Polar is a garbage diagnosis to give a person who has PTSD, especially if it was not given prior to trauma. Very very few who have been given a Bi-Polar diagnosis with PTSD are diagnosed correctly, instead the Bi-Polar is given to provide more meds, which often provide more kickbacks to the physician. By the sounds of the meds you are taking above... change physicians to someone who actually cares about your health, because the amount you are taking is far in excess to what is healthy or in your best well-being.

Change physicians ASAP is my advice, and get the hell of so many medications which are likely causing you more harm than good at this time. You only should need one to two medications to help you with PTSD... more than that and you are likely taking medications to help symptoms which another medication is giving you. It becomes a very vicious cycle whilst your prescribing physician gets richer at your expense.

Personally, I don't know HOW you function, on all of those drugs. I don't know how you could feel anything, or care about anything either, being on that cocktail of meds........ You certainly do not need another drug, and like Anthony said, you need to get off a lot of them.....

Hi, lilcuda1. Perhaps it is time for you to seek another opinion in terms of the drugs that you are taking. That really is an awful lot of meds... so many that it is difficult to tell whether your inability to fall asleep is because of your diagnoses or because of the meds. I cannot say what other folks take for PTSD, but at my worst point I was taking three meds: zoloft (for anxiety & depression), klonopin as-needed (for acute anxiety episodes only), and ambien (for sleep).

One thing I have found to be true, at least for me with Zoloft, is that it took me a while to get to the correct dosage amount. My doctor suggested that I increase my Zoloft to the mean dosage level for PTSD, and then suggested that if that did not work to relieve my anxiety that we should continue upping the Zoloft until I was at the max before we tried to add another drug. Thankfully it has not come to that, but this is just an example of different options that a doctor may present you with.
