Metallic Taste And Intense Fear

I am really scared. I have so much fear right now. I used to think anxiety and fear were the same thing but now I realize they are not. I have this weird metallic taste on my tounge and if I get startled it gets much stronger. I made some decisions to avoid responsibility because I was scared in the past and now it's caught up with me and it is overtaking my life. Im also scared about what my anxiety is doing to others and worried about losing them and my stability. I lose energy very fast and can't concentrate but I want to run away from myself when I am alone with my thoughts. I feel like I can never quite catch my breath and I know something needs to happen soon because my body will not be able to continue fighting this level of fear. I'm scared about the new level of fear and the new side effect of metallic taste. Has anyone felt that happen? Even stories might help I just need hope I will survive this.

I have panic attacks but this is lasting a week so far and I never imagined my mind could hold me captive for this long. I go to therapy and have a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist has not called me back in a week since I called about it and is just a nurse practitioner and I'm struggling with feeling like I am letting down my T by my sudden symptoms. I was doing better and I feel like people think I am getting in my own way at this point. I know my T doesn't judge me but I feel like she is confused as I am at the intensity they are coming on. I hate going in there every week without positive news. It really makes me feel like such a failure.

That's the taste of adrenaline dumping into your system... Metal in the back of your throat.

ETA: There are other causes for tasting metal; tooth infections, medications, etc. But when all of a sudden I taste hot metal, and my pulse jacks up, and everything slows down or speeds up? That's adrenaline. Pure fight or flight adrenaline.

Thanks that makes sense with the sudden increase when I get startled. I just called the nurse connection for my doctor and theyou did a whole screening for if I am ok and are going to call me back about that taste after talking with the doctor. It feels kind of a little less now that I told someone what was going on but is still there.
