Has anybody had any experience of any? I'm talking about treatments/therapies that are primarily aimed at the somatosensory experience of (C)PTSD. Things like yoga, meditation, massage, acupuncture etc.

Is anybody of the belief that work needs to be done on the body first before any form of talking/memory processing therapy takes place?

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is all about approaching trauma through the body. There are practitioners all over the world, I think. If you google it, you'll probably be able to find certified practitioners in your area - though I'm not from the UK, so I can't say for certain.

This has been on my mind lately. Exactly this. Talk therapy pushes me way too far sometimes, although maybe the actual problem is that I haven't found an excellent trauma-savvy therapist. At any rate, I'm trying other modalities now, and for me it has been refreshing to take a break from talk therapy, even if just for a little while. I tried sound healing recently and felt very calm and fully present afterwards. I'm also fortunate to have found a massage therapist who has experience with PTSD and incorporates grounding aromatherapy into her sessions. I am excited to add these things to my personal "toolbox."

If you try acupuncture, please let us know what your experience is. I'm very curious about it.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. All the best to you as you explore your options!

I am currently having acupuncture for migraines, and I started having flashbacks of stuff I had forgotten/repressed. I freaked out slightly and asked the acupuncturist if that was even a thing that could happen, and apparently it is. There is a belief that your body holds 'memories' in your body and releasing tension can 'release' them.

So yes, I am not sure if it can help etc, but it does something most certainly. I would personally advise having a therapist at the same time as it can be pretty alarming. On the up side I am sleeping a lot better (:O amazing for me) and my migraines are greatly reduced.
