My Dogs Are Now Registered Esas!

So today I registered my two chihuahuas with an ESA registry so that I cannot be denied housing with them. Our apartment complex has lots of dogs and they all bark, even one of ours. Someone tried to say ours bark the most (which is untrue) and at night. We talked to the office lady and she was okay, but said if it continued we would have to get rid of Callie, the one who barks. She hasn't really barked at all in the last few days except maybe once or twice. Anyways, it was causing me a lot of stress worrying about it so as soon as their IDs come in, I am taking them to the office for her to make copies of and I am getting a note from my doctor. I registered them both and my doctor agreed because they both do different things for me. Jada is very calm which helps me and I've also taught her to lay on my chest when I'm anxious. She loves to cuddle, so she will stay there as long as needed. Callie is very good at helping with panic attacks, flashbacks, and nightmares. She will "attack" me with kisses :). At night, if she even feels me move, she will scoot closer or come up and lay beside my neck or give me kisses if I am awake from a nightmare. Once I get my service dog, they will be my "home helpers" so that the service dog can have a break sometimes.

I also have decided that if the program I am trying to get my SD through doesn't hurry up (I should've received my letter 2 weeks ago) then I will start training my own dog. I've done so much research and have trained Jada some things as well as Callie so I know I am capable. I would use one of them, but they ARE chihuahuas and don't do well in public.

@macbeth Callie is a yorkie chihuahua mix actually (just forgot to add that part lol) and her hair does grow long, but we keep it clipped :)

I have a self trained service dog. I highly reccomend you teach a quiet command utilizing operant conditioning with a behavioral marker. Fancy way of saying clicker training. Your new service dog would be tempted to pick up a barking habit if this isn't addressed now. A big no no if in the public arena. Also makes service dogs look bad. As you know I'm sure. @Jezanna Thank you for your suggestion. We have gotten them pretty calmed down now. It made it easier once the apartments told the other dog owners as well to quiet their dogs, our dogs would bark a lot in response to them.

Glad to hear it. I'm going through a family member wanting me to part with a very loud parrot and I know how destabilizing that can be! My birds are staying as I'm taking my own advise.
