Natural medications/remedies

I feel like there is no one magic solution. My symptoms have been reduced by 80-90% without medication but I did a lot of different things and it was really hard work. As far as natural remedies go, I found that aromatherapy using high quality essential oils, amplified the benefits of nearly every flashback or stress management technique I tried. This is because when you sniff an essential oil the aromatic molecules go directly to the limbic region of your brain where your stress response is regulated. I would say that most of my efforts were focused on handling flashbacks at first. I learned how to recognize when I was in a flashback and had a repertoire of things I would do to process through it, such as practicing mindfulness, doing a grounding yoga pose, etc. Sniffing essential oil directly from the bottle or diffusing it, was probably the easiest most effective tool I had. I also bring my little travel oil of essential oils everywhere I go and there are little EO inhalers scattered around the house. I also have a diffuser necklace I wear if I know I'm not going to carry my travel bag. I don't get full blown flashbacks anymore but the oils are still invaluable to me when I am feeling triggered. The other technique/remedy that is worth mentioning is I would sometimes use a powdered magnesium drink called Natural Calm. Most people are deficient in magnesium, especially if we're under a lot of stress. The action of making the drink and drinking it gave me something safe to focus on when I was having a flashback. Plus the magnesium itself has a calming effect. You can also buy magnesium pills.

So...trying to keep this objective, if you are using, or have used, anything other than prescription meds I would love to hear your feedback (good or bad) on what you were/are using. Also, if there is something you are currently studying about and want to share feel free.

Hello RCD_VET,

Taking spagyric liquid called Solunat 2 and Solunat 6 against Depression. I also take Vitamin B complex, Vitamin D, magnesium and I try to eat somewhat healthy.
Going to the Gym 1-2x a week and yoga ( This I find yet hard to Do, because its hard to stay motivated.

I am interested in Yogic science, Ayurvedic healing and meditation...still at the beginning.

:-)

Just started using CBD oil and oh my god!!! Can't believe how well it works. I had to go for the hemp stuff with no THC (the stuff that gets you high) because of my opiate plan. So far I've used it for pain and anxiety and gotta tell you it is fabulous!

My diet is shit and I suffer from ongoing nausea, so supplements are a MUST!

I only get liquids (if liquids are available) as absorption is BY FAR superior imho.

So far.....

Magnesium
B multi (will switch over fully to liquid B12, B9, and B6)
D3
Calcium
Iron

I have a bunch more liquids on my amazon list that I’m waiting to order, including zinc, iodine, selenium, etc.

Right now I’m waiting for l-theanine (calming), l-tyrosine (depression), and 5HTP (depression). I really hope these help! I’ve heard good things about them all.

I just started iron last night. Wtf, apparently I’m anemic. Go figure. A month of days where it was like hell just getting out of bed before 1pm. Sandwiched by morning and evening anxiety, crazy mood swings, depression from hell. Today I was up at 5am, went to church, cleaned the house, went running, cooked, and then went to a church event. Ok, so i overdid it at the end, but OMG IS THIS WHAT NORMAL PEOPLE FEEL LIKE?!?!? No wonder people get so much shit done.

If you’re depressed/anxious, you may be low on IRON!

@EveHarrington I only have one to help me sleep once in a while - but good to know they don't play well together

and I haven't had my iron checked in a while --- and now that you mention it I was low on iron the last time I was really tired...hmmmm

thanks!

Some great tips in here! Thanks everyone. I have a friend who swears by cannabis. He was given a year to live, fought his zero tolerance thoughts and gave it a try. He is now off all meds except cannabis and as healthy as when he was in the military again. Not sure I'm at that place yet....seen marijuana destroy too many lives. It's amazing how our bodies communicate what vitamins and minerals we are low on. If only we knew better how to listen to ourselves.

If you get the CBD oil out of hemp instead of MJ, it doesn't have the bad side effects. There is no "high" which is nice because I can keep my mind clear and pain down. Plus it won't violate my opiate plan by showing up on a drug test (which is required every 3 months by my med group) This is who I went with because they had the most research info Dead Link Removed
