Needing Strength When Husband Is Away

@RussH - Thanks. The day is nice. We're off to do some shopping later and have a neighborhood party this afternoon (yikes!). My husband comes home late tonight so it's the last day of that survival!

I was also checking the posts this morning and want to wish you a good day. Have fun with those boys of yours and remember that you have made it through - this is the last day and your hubby will be coming home, so the regular routine will be back, but the best news is you've done it.

I can't imagine going through what you are going through with two little ones. My kids were grown and gone before my ptsd really manifested itself.

Have an awesome day.

Tonight we will have to figure out a way to do virtual fireworks to celebrate your surviving your husband's absence. I knew you could do it!

@littlelostchild - I wish all the time that I didn't have to deal with the PTSD stuff right now. Unfortunately for whatever reason, now it the time. I wish I had the luxury of choosing to have it have had happened when I was younger or older. Though of course I wish I never had to deal with it. Today has been a rough morning so far, but we're going out shopping to look for reward toys for making it through (more or less).

@RussH - can we do silent, non-threatening virtual fireworks? Likes ones made of colorful clouds and not sparks and that don't make any scary loud noises?

I am with you about wishing about not having to deal with the ptsd. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but since we have it, we must muddle through. I am glad you have a support network, but it must be an extra challenge with young children. Although, I did find that keeping busy with my children was part of my coping/avoiding all those years ago, but you are facing your past. I am inspired by your strength!

Ok here are two pictures to celebrate your making it through the week. On is a time lapse photo of clouds, and the other is a sunset over lake Michigan. I took both pictures off of facebook. Hope you enjoy them.

Finally made it through the day. Just getting a chance to sit down now. I took the boys shopping to spend their money on some toys. My oldest bought a Lego set and that kept him busy for about an hour when we got back. Wish we could have a constant supply of those! I was irritable and angry today as a result of yesterday's flashback and processing during therapy. I managed to pretty much finish unpacking my office/guest room and vacuum most of the house. I took the boys with me to a neighborhood party. While it was nice to meet some of the neighbors, I was so anxious I don't really remember anyone. That will come with time though. It was very tiring to be socializing and running after my two year old. My husband should be home in an hour or two so now it's just sitting and waiting for him to return safely- definitely will feel better once he's actually here.

Thank you so much to those of you who have accompanied me on this journey this week. Your comforting thoughts and encouragement have really helped!

@RussH - Wonderful pictures. Thanks.

@JEKBreatheandBelieve I am glad we were able to take the journey with you. I am glad we were able to provide a measure of comfort and support for you. Thank you for allowing us into your life, and thank you for the nightly updates

I admire the fact that, even during this stressful time, you still took the time, and compassion to write encouraging post to some of the other threads. You are a good lady.

Now, really enjoy the evening with your hubby. Drink a nice glass of wine, or juice if you don't drink wine, and just enjoy the moment.

Now that he is coming home, I may not be as faithful at responding to your post, but I will be reading them, and will chime in more often than not. However if you need something, please feel free to ask.
Glad you liked the pictures. I had another one with actual fireworks, but did not know how much you would like it.

@JEKBreatheandBelieve I just wanted to say good morning "J" Welcome to day one of having you hubby back. I assume he made it in ok. Anyway you and your family have a wonderful day together, and make sure to smell some flowers
