New Here
Hi. I'm new here my husband thought it would be good for me. Trying reluctantly. Everything is still fresh. My assault happened just over a week ago and I'm still numb. I should be feeling something like anger or sadness but I don't. I'm jumping all the time. Loud noise sends my anxiety through the roof completely at random. I have been diagnosed with ptsd. I haven't been to work and don't know when I'll be able to go back. My husband is very much impacted as well. The whole family is out of sorts including my young children. I'm having a very difficult time coping with day to day life. Every minute has been a struggle. I've seen a counselor once and seeing again on Tuesday but I'm along with the physical reminders of what happened am afraid of the impending confrontation of the event that I keep getting reminded about. I don't remember any details right now just sensory things. I hope that being here will give some clarity for what is happening to me. Because right now I'm so lost. Thank you.

Welcome, and feel free to vent here and write whatever you feel/want. You don't have to feel anything right away -- it's normal to feel numb. I was numb for years after my traumas. The main thing right now is to go easy on yourself and let yourself go through whatever you need to go through. If you can't go to work, don't go and don't worry about it, and don't worry about day-to-day stuff right now -- you are more important. You need to let yourself heal or you'll be useless to everyone anyway. So focus on you.

@Jojo81, Welcome. We all understand opening up to strangers. But the forums are different. Different in the way that we understand and you will be supported. This is a safe place to say how you feel or don't feel. You will be valued here as we all understand what you are feeling. Give yourself time. And please take care of yourself . We hope to see you again.

Welcome to the site, you will plenty of support and help on here, just like I did, and in fact am still receiving support every time I come in.
I hope you find the courage to keep posting and share your thoughts and feelings as it's good to share with friends, good luck.

@Jojo81 Welcome to the forum! :)

When I first joined this site, one of the biggest realizations was that I was not alone in what I was experiencing and here was a place that people really understood. With therapy and support, symptoms do get better over time and I hope you find the support here beneficial.

Welcome to the forums
