I've suffered from chronic pain since being wounded, that's more than 46 years. In that time there have been many advances in medicine and treatments of all kinds. Someday, perhaps, they will find the 'switch' to be able to turn pain off. In the meantime it's all conjecture and debate. Probably the only thing that I found marginally helpful was smoking pot.
Things don't tend to get better as you age, as we all know. But I do know this; exercise, keep your weight down, eat right, get good rest, stay active mentally there's no magic pill. Those things help in a general way, at least for me. Also, acupuncture is something that I find a great help. I do take an occasional pain med, but try to keep that few and far between. You've got to work at wellness like anything. It's ain't easy but I know it could be worse. I read about this kind of stuff so often that It's just like the other miracle cures for PTSD, there just aren't any.
You have to be good at managing your own healthcare, you get one chance at it. So my thing is, it's life, adjust to it and get on with it. As always just one guys opinions.
