I was walking home from the park with pup just before sunset and I heard an owl, which is unusual during daylight. I craned my neck searching through the branches with my eyes, walking around the base of an enormous gum tree. There it was, like a giant fluffy football with those furry claws, high up in the top, where the branches are swaying in the wind. I got right under it, doing the call, “Who’s awake? Me too!” It didn’t respond, so I called more high pitched and louder, “Who who-who? Whoo-whoo!” And it looked straight down at me, practically rolling its eyes, “Oh human!” And went back to staring off at the sunset. That put a big smile on my face!
