I have only been taking Paxil for about two weeks and three days and I feel it has caused me more problems then relief. Odd sexual triggers, restlessness, severe and headaches. I also feel sad and powerless. I feel like I don't know where I belong in the world.i feel like life in general is pointless.all my emotions seem to be flat and numb.I just want to be somewhere else sometimes. I feel so lonely.I just want someone to love me and only me so much. Someone that understands me. Maybe my life would be better if I had someone to share it with.

Tina ....I strongly recommend you get counseling. Not because anything is "wrong" with you, but because what happened to you is not something you can tackle alone. Life is worth living, if you make it that way. I think what you don't realize is that you are NOT powerless. This is YOUR life & you do have control over it & power. I know that a counselor will help you discover that. I felt hopeless & powerless for a long time as well, but through therapy I have learned that I am in control. It is my life & I do have a say in what my life is like. I can make my life whatever I want it to be & chase whatever dreams & hopes I want. You can too. Your power is waiting to be reclaimed, all you have to do is grab it. ...If it's any consolation to you, you are not alone in regards to being lonely & feeling as if you are deprived of affection. I have dealt with this my entire life. I've always been an out cast, a target for bullies. I have very few friends & absolutely no boyfriend. I am 30 yrs old & have never been in a serious long term relationship with a guy that I like that likes me in return. Some days I feel like I will never have love r be with the guy I want. But I concentrate on improving myself & I work on myself & I hold on to hopes that one day I WILL attract the man of my dreams & have all his love, & He'll understand me ...I know its hard, & it seems like us survivors were dealt a crummy hand from the word go, but for right now, just focus on you. Making you better, improving yourself & making you happy & healthy. You are NOT alone.

Anti depressants sometimes take a few weeks to kick in properly. I would give it a bit longer. If you've only just started on them it may be that the dose will need adjusting too once you've been on them a few weeks. What did your doctor tell you to expect from them?

I agree with @Kristen about the counselling as well though. I don't think medication on it's own is enough to deal with this sort of stuff. It's not for me any way.

I have been taking Paxil for about two week and five days.

How long did your doctor say to give it before you were likely to start feeling any effect? Did your doctor say that you might need to increase the dose? It's unusual to start on a full dose. Sometimes a low dose has a therapeutic effect for some people, but I think it's pretty rare to get it right first time.

I'm not familiar with Paxil, but I had to try a few different things and different doses before we hit on something that I could tolerate and that worked for me. If you don't think it's doing anything for you, go back to your doctor, but I think it's important as well not to expect too much from anti depressants. For me I view them as a tool that helped me to get it together enough to sort out more effective help for myself and not top myself in the process. I don't view them as a cure, more like a temporary band aid or a crutch.

Well, since yesterday I noticed a positive change in my memory and learning. I feel like my mind is working better or faster then it was before. I feel like I can remember a lot more information then I have in the past. Does Paxil have anything to do with this? Btw, am left-handed if that means anything hehe.

Hi @Tina
I am so glad that you are feeling better. I am afraid I have no experience with Paxil so am unable to answer your question, but maybe someone else will know!

So far yes, my thinking feels faster and some of the triggers are gone but I still have a long way to go. Thanks. :)

Taking Paxil has been a really annoying ordeal. I have been taking it for almost a month now.Just almost a week ago I felt like it was starting to work. I felt a lot of triggers finally disappearing but very early into the next week, the OCD and triggers appear to be back again. I don't understand why has it stopped working? This medication sucks :/ I just want to get better and be free of this f*cking nightmare in my head.

I think I maybe said before that medication alone is unlikely to fix everything. Use it as a tool towards getting into therapy. The combination of the two could be really beneficial, but medication on its own will only help so far.
