The dentist is out of town, on vacay and I don't know when he will be back. I now have an ear ache as well as the broken tooth. I live in a small town, no other dentist, and besides, my dentist has my x-rays! If things get worse, I guess I could go to Urgent Care, but I really hate to do that, because what little money I have I hope to save for the dentist!

If you get even the HINT of a fever, go immediately. Dental infections turn into sepsis & heart attack/stroke very quickly.

Personally, I would go now, for antibiotics & painkillers... but I have a lot of experience with broken teeth & bloodstream infections, once bitten twice shy.

The pain is gone for now, though I do feel a bit tired. Our Urgent Care is closed on Sundays, and already closed for the day today. I don't own a vehicle, so going to another town to theirs is not really an option either. Theirs is open tomorrow, so if the need arises, I will definitely keep your thoughts and experiences in mind.

I am rinsing with salt water every hour or so. No fever. Thanks for the info!

Please pray for my friend and neighbor Freida, whose husband is in a nursing home down the block from us. They are not taking very good care of him there, so she ends up doing a lot of the caregiving anyway. She wants to bring him home. We talked it over and we think it may just be possible with some help from her sons, some professionals and Hospice. Please pray that it all works out. Yes, he does have a terminal illness.
