I had more blood clots in my legs. I had one last night and possibly another this morning in the other leg. I have no symptoms right now, and these are surface blood clots, so they are not super dangerous, but still, if one were to go to my brain or my heart or my lung, it could cause me to have a minor stroke, heart attack or pulmonary embolism, which is VERY DANGEROUS and what my mother died from. So this is hereditary.
My uncle, when they put him on blood thinners, bumped his head getting into a car, and had a major bleed in his brain. (the other kind of stroke)! He had to be hospitalized and it was serious.
So I am caught between a rock and a hard place. If I take a blood thinner, especially at my age (being in my mid 60s and still quite active) I could end up like my uncle did.
On the other hand, if I don't accept a blood thinner, I could have just as serious of a problem in the other direction, like my mother did. Now, when she had the lung blood clot, she was 86. She led a mostly inactive life at that point, also, it occurred when she was in the Hospital for an ulcer. So they had to stop her aspirin. (A blood thinner).
At this point, I am avoiding foods high in Vitamin K, which causes blood clots. I am taking a baby aspirin every night at bedtime, and a ginger capsule at breakfast. (Ginger is a natural blood thinner).
I have done extensive research on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) website, as to which foods to avoid.
I know all this sounds complicated. It is! It takes constant vigilance.
Your prayers, as often as you think of me, would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I am praying for all of you too, of course.
