Prayer Requests

@LuckiLee how is your co-worker doing? Is he okay? How did things turn out re his arm?

My kitten is at the vet's today cos he has been having issues peeing. He peed in the tranport box on the way to the vet and they put a test-strip in the pee and it showed "traces of blood". This can be harmless (bladder infection) or serious. They are keeping him til this evening and doing an ultra-sound.
Anyone who loves animals/ pets as much as me - your prayers would be much appreciated.
He's a rescue cat who's already been through quite a bit, so he could really use some luck on his side and have this be a "harmless" medical issue.

I will have more results from the vet in about 7 hours from now.

Thanks  ??

Thanks for asking @Sophy. He did end up losing his arm at the elbow. I knew he would from what I saw. Alot of things were at play in this. If they (he was working with another person) were following procedure This wouldn't have happened. I can't stop thinking about him/it and the way his body reacted. Not to mention his screams. Ugh! Which makes me think about J and all of you here. J has literally hundreds if not thousands of events like this. No freakin wonder his/your mind never rests. I hope kitty is feeling better!! XO

@LuckiLee ... Word to the wise? It’s the things you try and push out of your mind that tend to haunt.

Best thing I know of after a nasty shock is taking a snowday/ pool-day/ curled-up-in-bed-with-a-spiked-drink and good book you don’t actually read, under the covers day ...& just letting the thoughts come ...and sleep the sleep of the exhausted. A day to right your world and set your mind at ease. Some people add a good cry in there, too, that bit has just never made sense to me.

Best done immediately after, but if you haven’t taken the time, yet? Well worth it. For true.

@Friday, thanks for your advice. I've been relaxing and doing a bunch of nothing for the last few days. Had a couple of cries in there too. After it happened we all got together in silence and most of us cried. Even the big burley men. I pray he gets himself in therapy soon. This could fill him with hate, anger and despair. He has such a gentle soul, I'd hate to see that change. Have a good night!

You know...

If it’s something you’re up to? You have the rare experience of living & breathing PTSD firsthand... and treatment / best practice.

If it would feel too much like intruding on the family right now, you might could hit up his treatment team / hospital social worker about getting a trauma specialist on board (or at least introduced to them). They can’t share patient info with you, but you can certainly hit them up, explain that you live with a combat vet and know the long term effects of trauma, and really want to make sure this bloke has got a trauma therapist right off the bat to help improve his outcome. (Outcome is always a magical word to use with medical professionals. :inlove: Love it.) And later follow up with this guy, himself. Sometimes it’s just a friendly word saying hell yes! That changes perspective from “weak & unmanly” to... I could do that. Male pride restored. <chuckling> But then, you live with a combat vet, so you prolly already know that! ;)

So, I had a brief conversation with his Grandpa and he says the boy is doing better than him. And yes, he has a trauma therapist working with him. I mentioned living with a combat veteran and understand how trauma can effect someone. It seems like he's being taken care of. Grandpa thanked me for my concern and information.
