"Professional organizer" therapist is coming to my mom's hoarded house. How should/do I tell her?

You do NOT sound controlling and are not controlling at all from what you say here. You are aware of trying to be respectful to her. But this insnt tenable as it is and things have to change. Good for you for persisting and don't give in whatever happens. This is for your mothers good too.

There’s a difference between taking charge controlling (LEADERSHIP! :D) and abusive controlling.

Someone has to be driving the car.

Don’t mistake one for the other, just because there are similarities.
