Good morning guys!
I'm starting therapy again soon, will schedule appointment for next week or the next.
I'm thinking of the basic questions that I usually ask before starting therapy, education, work background and research.. and I had a bookmark of a website with a bunch of spot on questions but I can't find it, does anyone know what I'm talking about? It was aimed for cptsd/did.

Anyway, what do you usually ask a T before starting therapy and what were the best answers?

Aside from work/education/research I was thinking of laying a gist of my life story and ask her what her idea of treatment for me looks like. Is that appropriate? Things can change during treatment.

If you guys have any insight, if I'm overreacting let me know lol

I think that's absolutely appropriate. You want to have an idea of what a therapist thinks they can do to help you. I had to do a bunch of research on how c-ptsd should be treated before finding my new therapist. It's good information to have. What is this website you found?

I don't have my computer. I found it on a DID resource website. Don't remember where, though..

Thank you :) I feel like a cartoon always looney nut case

Do you have DID? Just curious, you don't have to answer that. I also wanted to say that brainspotting is really cool, if you want to look into it.

I have a sometimes unhealthy multiplicity. Not sure if it's DID and I really don't bother thinking much about it. It got tough last year and I went to my last T because of it. Once I stabilized she said I don't meet the criteria for DID.

Ah sorry, brainspotting yes. There's a place that does it in my city but it's too expensive and far away :) thanks though

I think asking about education and experience are really important. I would also want to know if they had regular supervision/someone they consult with and wouldn’t be prepared to work with someone who didn’t.

In terms of how they would treat, while I’d want them to have some idea of what they think might be helpful, I’d also want to know that they were working with me as an individual and not treating “a case of PTSD”. So, I’d look for them to be talking about us working together, reviewing and negotiating the work. I’d totally shy away from anyone who tried to tell me I’d need to be in therapy for X amount of time because they can’t possibly know that early on.
