Does anyone have to carry an object or hold an object at home to feel safe/complete, you know how kids do with a favorite toy or blanket? For me it's holding a pistol, not loaded, but this item has saved my life in many instances and when I am having a panic attack or losing my strength to bust out of my daydream funks, I hold on to it and it calms me down.

Yep, I sleep with a prayer blanket draped over my chest. And one of our cats usually snuggles next to me under the covers, though he doesn't like my prayer blanket and pushes it out of the way, wants to be right next to me, lol. And I put my hand on hubby's shoulder. It all helps.

I hold my mace when I feel threatened. A stranger knocked at the door the other day and sent me into a spiral. We didnt answer the door but holding my mace made me feel protected and ready to not freeze.

I have had similar experiences. For me I think the object has become my wedding ring. Regardless of what I am feeling about my relationship with my wife at the moment, fiddling with my wedding ring seems to hell me feel more stable in a lot of situations. If an unloaded gun helps you get through, I say good.
