Wow, that is one of the most unprofessional and inappropriate things that I have heard. I cannot believe that she would ask such a sensitive-type question like that in front of 40 other people! I'm with KP when I read your post it made me angry.

I would definitely go to the head of her department and lodge a complaint. What she did is just completely unacceptable and quite frankly none of her damn business.

Contact the dean of her department. If s/he doesn't resolve it, keep going higher. If the school won't address it, contact every rape crisis and advocacy center in your area. The last thing your school wants is for something like this to go public. Let them know you mean business if they attempt to sweep it under the rug.

I am glad to see that I wasn't overreacting about the situation. I sometimes feel like I am very dramatic about things, so I wasn't sure.

I did email her though, and asked if we could meet privately to talk. I have a meeting with her today, and I am really nervous. She seems like a very strong opinionated person and I am not sure how to deal with that
