Sick, With A Twist

Go fig, the next opening at the doctor's office isn't till 4:30. Argh.

Well, I've lived with this now for eleven days (!), I suppose waiting another six hours to find out what's wrong won't hurt

Yeah, do keep us updated! I think avoiding the bloody doctor is a signature PTSD symptom! Bleh.

Did they find anything conclusive, Yumeko-Chan? (I hate the "we don't know..." answers doctors are so fond of!)

Alrighty, I went and saw the doctor yesterday, and while he does NOT think it's my gallbladder, he admits he's been fooled before. He thinks it's gastric enteritis (making too much stomach acid, I guess, which may be what's making me queasy and may also explain this sore throat I've had for weeks now), and he told me to take two 1000mg Tums with each meal as well as one Prilosec tablet twice a day ("Ignore what it says on the package," he said, lol -- the package says to take it only ONCE a day).

He also took some blood just to make sure he can rule out gallbladder-related issues, among other things. He said the results should be back Friday so he told me to call him then and let him know if the Tums and Prilosec are working as well as get the results.

He said the Tums/Prilosec therapy may not cure me but he at least is hoping I'll be feeling better when I call tomorrow. So we'll see.

Okey dokey, got my bloodwork results back just now.

On paper, everything is beautiful. Negative pregnancy test, no hepatitis, no pancreatitis, blood count is good, everything is great.

The doctor said it's great I'm seeing results from the Tums/Prilosec regimen already (I told him I'm still nauseous in the morning but once I take the pills it's ok), and told me to keep it up until I'm symptom-free, then to take one Prilosec a day for two weeks after that.

And he reworded what he said I have. This time he called it peptic gastritis. Eh. Still means I'm making too much stomach acid =P He said I burned a hole in the lining of my stomach. Whee. But hopefully I'll be feeling great in just a little bit!
