Earlier I was watching some of the highlights from Britain's Got Talent on YouTube. This in itself is a rarity as my brother and mother take over the computer and always watch the same old films or episodes of reruns of comedy programmes from their eras and then spend the whole time pausing and explaining the plot line to me. As if I actually care!

However when I talk over something they are watching or have the volume turned up on my tablet I am told to stop talking oe tuen the volume down as they dont want to listen to me typing or playing a game on my tablet.

So. I am quietly watching MY programme because she is out shopping and he is still in bed.

He gets up and immediately starts on with his tirade about how much he hates Simon Do well! Spoiling my viewing, so I let this go over my head and ignore him, my hearing is not that good these days since my developing health problems so i struggle to hear anything being played.

She comes home and again starts to belittle my viewing telling me how much she hates BGT. Then informs him that she has found yet another film about the Roman Empire !

My choices are thus :-

Do I attempt to continue watching my programme or simply give up and put their film on.

Decision made, they win as always e narcissistic bastards.

I'm so sorry, Laurie, I had the same problem with my husband, He loved to watch violent shows, especially police ones with chase scenes in them. He would flip from channel to channel looking for chase scenes all the time! I could never watch a whole show, or a show that I liked, because his tastes in TV were so different from mine. He said he hated laugh tracks, so I could never watch any comedies. I eventually got into computers and meeting folks online. Then that got me into trouble, because some guy fell in love with me, even though I kept telling him I was married and did not mess around.... so selfishness is just something in life that we have to deal with, both with those who we live with and those we meet online! It is a fact of life, unfortunately. I feel for ya, buddy! Is there somewhere in your dwelling where you can close a door and be away from them and be by yourself with your tablet?

Her house, her rules. I simply give in to them every time as it is easier and I am no longer the argumentative type with either of them. Better to let them think they have won than to stand my ground with them.

One day I will be moved into supported accommodation where I shall not be returning from to this hell hole. Living here has now served its purpose in exposure to my traumas from childhood.

I am now finally the bigger man and can smile sweetly when I need to and keep my feelings in check, whereas before I would have flipped I can now turn the other cheek. As these programmes are all on YouTube I can always find them again and watch them when they are not around. I have ear buds but whenever I wear them and he wants to explain what is happening in his programme or to tell me the same old crap jokes I have heard so many times he simply reaches over and removes one or other ear bud and proceeds to tell me anyway regardless of whether I actually want to listen to him.

I am better than both if them and shall bide my time.
