I was sharing my wife's story with a lady at church last Sunday, and she told me she could sympathize, sort of, because she had a traumatic event when she was 15, (best friend died unexpectedly) and since then (23 years), she has had very poor appetite, has panic attacks, fights depression, etc.

I told her "it sounds like you have PTSD." she has been to doctors who told her her problem was all in her head. I strongly encouraged her to talk to a professional specialist about it soon.

She hasn't had the relapse event like my wife has, and if she can get help before that happens, she, and everyone who loves her will be much better off.

Had I not learned so much about PTSD out of a need to help my wife, I would never have known what to say to my friend.

Angus,
I applaud you. in the midst of your own issues, your reaching out to others. I hope your friend finds the help she needs.
