I believe the superman complex means that as a man we are supposed to be able to; do anything at anytime with nothing at all; we are never supposed to ask for help, admit defeat, show weakness, say we don't know, etc, etc. Realistically this makes men out to be superhuman and sets us up against a hero model that none of us can live up to. Thus when we have a real weakness or struggle such as PTSD, we break the model of the "Superhuman Hero" and it rocks the boat of how we think things are supposed to be.
I say be a real human before worrying about what it means to be a real man and you will find out that you already are one. And by the way it takes true bravery to allow ourselves to be openly vulnerable. Good Job!!!
