Terror In Australia

I have my cwp as well. We should use our constitutional rights, before they are taken from us. "Chance favors the prepared mind".

I'm with you guys there. I'm working on getting my cwp just waiting on the sheriff to process it. Luckily when I went home I was able to fill out the application and the state of Colorado recognizes Pennsylvania's cwp so I only had to pay 20 dollars instead of 120 dollars. But the great thing about Colorado is that you are allowed to open carry anyplace other then where firearms are prohibited or if a store owner has a sign up that prohibits open carrying. I opened carried for a while but with how so many civilians are afraid of guns I didn't want to be someplace and have somebody call the cops on me.

The "sheeple" are afraid of guns, until one of the good guys saves their asses with a gun, after that they just go back to being afraid and confused again. :)

It is great to confuse the Sheeple. Some buddies and I would play mind tricks on them during Cub Scout Jamborees. We would have our Scouts march to a cadence that they sang. Always warms your heart hearing a bunch of 6 to 11 year olds singing Momma, Momma, cant you see what the Scouts have done to me, at 7am on their way to morning formation. I had one dad tell me that the Cub Scouts are not a para-military organization. It was fun seeing their minds spin out of control when you tell them the true history...not the watered done version currently on the BSA website.

Never argue with an angry squid that is backed by a bunch of Marines. Damn the torpedoes, much more fun playing mind games.

Interesting Thought... Sent by a friend, these two events are definitely something to think about...Australia has some pretty tough gun laws. Yet consider the following...

Sydney, Australia, Monday morning, 15 Dec: A guy walks into a cafe with a shotgun. 16 plus hour standoff, with hundreds of police, begins. Area businesses shut down for a day, thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Thousands of dollars spent on police effort. News media around the world spending millions of dollars covering the siege. Other nations monitoring the situation, ready to give aid to Australian government, if needed. Police finally take action. Bad guy dead, 2 citizens dead, 4 citizens wounded.

Compare that to...

Las Cruces, NM, Sunday evening, 14 Dec (virtually the same time): A guy walks into a "Smoke Shop" with a shotgun. Store clerk is armed with a 9mm. In less then a minute, bad guy is dead. Police called to process the scene and take a report. Area businesses parking slightly inconvienenced because of cop cars. Area TV news media has a 20 second blurb on the evening news and the area news paper has a small article the next day. Prosecutor reportedly declines to press charges.

You guys know what is funny to me? This site , this thread, was how I heard about this.

I think that is the problem. In a world of instant, remote communication, it is far too easy to retract from RL and live in VL. I think that makes things like this more shocking. Yet when one looks back on recent history, stuff like this happens all the time and always has. Remember when "the Gulf" meant the Gulf of Mexico? Or when Tokyo and Okinawa were having issues? Timor? Thailand? Myanmar/Burma? India? Turkey? Greece? Spain? Brazil, Peru, and Columbia? Anywhere in Eastern Europe?

I admit, The Land of Ozz is shocking to me. Of all the the places one would not expect this sort of fiasco, Australia is the top of my list. Shit here in the states it happens in our friggen schools!

What I'm getting at is I think this stuff is common and we just notice it differently.
