I'm so disgusted by American's impossible standards for women seeking office versus the abysmally low standards set for men. The patriarchy is alive and well and utterly toxic to our culture.

I liked Bernie Sanders but I didn't vote for him. To me, a vote for him is not Revolutionary. He is still an old white male. Worse, he's not even a Dem, and didn't help any Dems down-ticket. That's extremely bizarre for someone touting the idea of being a reformist. One can't reform anything without coalitions of like-minded people.

Hillary will be a fantastic president, and will move women's issues forward in ways that the male leaders haven't even given one second of thought to. But to really do it, we need to get rid of the lazy, obstructionist, utterly corrupt GOP members who have no problem hurting our country just to pursue their patriarchal, elitist agenda.

Loving watching this from the uk, altho only real cable options are Fox news and CNN for the most up to date info. Fox seems to be so anti Hilary which winds me up , CNN seems more impartial !!
I watch the BBC but it only reports 'highlights'.
Am looking forward to Hilary visiting the UK as the President and meeting Theresa May, and then them both putting the world to rights!!

I haven't been on myptsd in a long time, and happy to find this thread. The DNC was so much fun and has me feeling patriotic - "This is my fight song, take back my life song, the we're alright soonngg" - That's been in my head for the last three days. The line up of speakers was impressive and substantial. I love Hillary, volunteer for her, and am looking forward to doing my part to help get voters to the voting booths on election day. That's what really counts, especially for democratic voters many of whom are disenfranchised literally or mentally, and especially in swing states.

On a side note, Trump triggers me. He reminds me of my narcissistic father. Rightly or wrongly, this election feels deeply personal. My wish for Trump to be defeated almost feels like my wish to triumph over the wrongs that a narcissistic bully once cast upon me.

I said this in another thread and was silenced. I can say it here because it is indeed in support of Hillary and is very much in align with what @BloomInWinter has said------

I have never really considered myself to be a feminist but with all that is coming to light I can very much see the hidden "angst" toward woman that is bubbling to the surface. It's always been there-----I never knew it was so bad. I am ashamed of being so blind to it all this time, but no more------my eyes shall be wide open.

This backlash against females can indeed IMHO be seen in pop culture. (Hear me out, I feel my argument has legs.) The movie industry is quite dominated by remakes. Never before have we seen such a raucous over a remake until this year-----with the remake/re-envision of Ghostbusters. All because of a female cast-------over something so inconsequential as a movie! (I was shocked to see all of the hateful comments online.) With that sort of nastiness, it's easier to understand why people have issues with a female president. Rewind 8 years and it was a similar story, but nobody wanted to admit it was racism. I'm not saying it was ALL racism, but given how racist our society can be, you bet your bottom dollar that some of that angst was racially fueled. And now it's the issue of gender-------Hillary would have to be perfect in order to be accepted. To me it's a bit of a Madonna/whore complex----- If you're not the perfect saintly "Madonna" then you're "trash". Why do we treat women like this? And it's not just men against women, it's also women against women too.

I have asked (everyone) but have yet to receive a response about what she did that was SO wrong. Infractions that men in politics do on a regular basis are reasons for her to be tarred and feathered! It's nauseating.

I'm off to buy an "I'm with her" tee shirt--------because I am proud to say I'M WITH HER!

Feminism is simply the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. Now, plenty of sexist people have put their own definitions on the word to make people think otherwise, but it is simply a belief in equality of opportunity and justice for all genders. Once I learned what the definition was, I realized I was greatly misinformed and I regret the times in my 20's when I said I wasn't a feminist. Why the hell wouldn't I be? I'm a woman!

Gloria Steinem said "the truth will set you free...but first it will piss you off." Once we awaken to the patriarchy and its toxic effects on our culture (and on us!) we can't un-see it. This is why many young women - and some men - who become feminists get more radicalized the older they get, myself included.

Hillary has broken ceilings since her career began. When the GOP destroyed universal health care during Bill Clinton's presidency, she didn't give up. She worked across the aisle to create and pass the CHIP program, which has literally provided care to millions of American children. Yet the flinging of mud and trumped-up charges about emails allows our lazy, corporate media to get by with not reporting on her actions, instead flooding the airwaves with fake scandal after fake scandal.

Several journalists in the past week have remarked that "I didn't know this Hillary Clinton." REALLY? What kind of journalist doesn't actually vett the BS they say? The fact that most Americans don't know Hillary is hardly her fault. Our media doesn't want us to know about successful women. Our educational system erases us from the history books. The only women who get on front pages get on their for their relationships with me, or for their value as eye candy or as a train wreck.

I'm not only all-in for Hillary, I'm NEVER spending a dime nor one minute of my time ever helping another "less-than-perfect" man ever again. This last 1/3 (hopefully) of my life is now going to be directed at just getting women in. However, I won't support women who are against women, such as Sara Palin or Michele Bachmann.

I remember in the first campaign against Obama, there was one moment where she obviously got a bit emotional and her eyes teared up and they were all over her. Now they complain she is too hard! WTF do they want??? I want a strong firm leader who can face up to tyrants yet has a kind soul...like Obama was and Hillary will be.
