Hi. I'm totally new to this. I'm not really even sure how an online support group works. I was just hoping for a way to connect to other people, as PTSD (caused by child abuse and adult sexual assault) and OCD (since I was a kid) leave me really isolated and lonely. But I don't want this to be about complaining, so I hope these groups aren't about that. I hope this is just a place where I can feel less alone. About me--I'm 30 years old, about to complete my bachelors degree in psychology (total miracle), unemployed (but really wanting to work), love the outdoors/nature. I'm not sure what else to say here. We'll see if this online support group thingy pans out or not. I'm hopeful, but unsure.

This is a great place to not feel so alone. It's not always about complaining, but it is a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings without judgement and to receive validation that you are not alone when you feel like you are! I've found it to be a great place to share things.

I'm 35 and have been diagnosed this year with C-PTSD from child sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and domestic violence as an adult. I am working on my bachelor's in nursing, I think I have 3 more semesters left! School has been one of the positive ways that I have coped over the years. I have coped in not-so-positive ways as well. So congratulations on almost completing your bachelor's!

I'm a "survivor" too! ;)

Welcome!

The forum is a huge place, and you can get out of it what you put into it. Read around, see where you connect the most...peer support is a proven tool for recovery, and I'm glad you're giving it a try.

Thanks for your reply, BoN-bOn! Way to go, working on your nursing degree! I agree, school really helps you focus and work on something positive and helps keep some of the symptoms at bay!
I really appreciate your comment.

Thanks for the advice, Joeylittle. I agree, there are so many forums and posts here its hard to sort through. Hopefully I can find some good peer support here.
