but I just completed an appeals letter to the Victim Compensation board requesting more therapy.

I obsessed over the letter, wrote numerous copies, even took the thing into my therapy session and have finally posted a version, stuck it in an envelope and I will soon take it to the post office.

I'm freaked out that they have cut off my therapy funding.

Prior to the crime, even though I had a horrendous childhood, I had managed to put all that aside and function as an adult contributing member of society.

This whole thing has been humiliating to say the least. I'm angry that my perpetrator got one day in jail, and 12 weeks of anger management and my life was trashed.

Nice job, Sky. I KNOW how hard it is to write a letter like that from my own experience. Good for you for seeing that through to completion. I've got my fingers (and toes) crossed for you.

Sky dancer,

Good for you!

I labored over simply filling out my first insurance claim--scared that if I didn't cross every t and dot every i someone might pursue action against me for willful insurance fraud! Standing up for your rights against a bureaucratic authority is huge (HYOOOOGE!!) for anyone. Even more so if you have some of the institutional paranoia can come with PTSD survivors get.

And it sounds like you'd be justified with those feelings considering the injustice of your burden versus your assailants sentence. You are right to be angry about that! (I often need reminding of this as well and my own experiences with injustice.)

Be well and congratulations on your triumph! :thumbs-up Fingers crossed for your case here as well!
