Hi Everyone,

I'm writing today to comment on the progress I've seen with my sufferer over the last three weeks.

He has been taking part in an "Immersion" which includes weekly EMDR and then regular therapy sessions. He is not medicated at this point, but uses Inderal as a prophylactic for his adrenaline.

The change in him is remarkable. He has learned how to diffuse and think through some of his aggression instead of acting on it. We no longer seem to have conflicts like we used to, and when we do have an issue, our ability to work through it calmly is now the norm.

Naturally after having months and months of huge explosive fights, I am waiting for the shoe to drop, but I remain hopeful. I've never known anyone try so hard to get better and to face their illness like he is doing.
I continue to see my own therapist and to do everything I can to take care of myself. I have even picked up a new hobby (guitar playing) which really soothes me.

I thought a little good news was in order and I wanted to share.

That is awesome progress Shoka. I am delighted for you.

As for things changing back (the shoe to drop)..............I think you just have to take each day at a time and even if you have one day that resembles the past ways you need to focus on that it was just a hiccup and not let it slip back to that or think things have changed for the worse. Hiccups happen and even if someone slips back they usually get better and better at coming back from that and the "new" becoming the norm.

Really happy for you both! :occasion:

Glad that things are going well for you both. Your sufferer must be so proud of himself!!!!!! Great job... I hope that things continue to go well for you both....

Dear Shoka,

-That's terrific! And it will help lessen his guilt and bring increased peace for you both.
Wonderful! :occasion:

Gratitude

Thank you all for being on this site. I genuinely feel "at home" here and cared for.

I am so grateful for the support and wisdom. Even though some of us are oceans apart, I feel less alone in the world when I sign on and know that others have walked in a similar situation.
