There are a lot of physical side-effects to PTSD, ranging from aches and pains, headaches, increased flu symptoms or amounts of the flu, to cancer and other life threatening illnesses. The very nature of having PTSD means your stress and anxiety levels are constantly raised, which means you have increased pressures upon your bodies organs, which means many of your organs are doing 3 years living in one year to support your system with PTSD.
Basically, controlling PTSD is life critical if you want a prolonged life. I have friends who are walking examples of uncontrolled PTSD in action, mid life, where healthy as you could be, PTSD hits, heart attacks, kidney failures, cancers, etc etc etc... and they still live in denial and fail to want to control their PTSD. They won't listen to me, counsellors, doctors, nobody.... and they are examples of what PTSD does to your body when left uncontrolled. You age faster (stress and anxiety), your organs breakdown faster (stress and anxiety), your heart beats faster (stress and anxiety), etc etc... the list is long.
