What Are Your Favorite "Safe" Movies?

All Disney Pixar films really - they're well written and incredibly clever. Wall-E is top of the list on that collection. Looking forward to Up! coming out soon.

I really like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but they are rather long and complicated. Love the acting and the setting, if I'm not really in the mood for following the plot.

Really like Groundhog Day, that's a very clever film, and Bill Murray is just classic.

Otherwise, pretty much anything that makes me smile, and that ends well.

Eh, if we're talking about not triggering anything then basically any non-war movie. Also I can't watch anyone on fire, like if say its a movie and someone catches on fire, or a stunt gone wrong, anything like that. I'll pretty much have to leave the room or change the channel immediately.

I'm not really crazy about comedies for the most part, I kind of like dry humor, like Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, however I make an exception with "Airplane!" God that movie just cracks me up. "Surely you can't be serious!" "Of course I'm serious, and stop calling me Shirley." roflmao its just so dumb I love it.

I second Sliding Doors - watched that this evening in fact!

And I'll add:
Cool Runnings
Moulin Rouge
Le Dernier Metro (don't know if anyone else is into French New Wave Cinema but hey ho!) :)
and Bienvenue Chez Les Ch'tis. (sorry, another French one!)

Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge as in the Baz Luhrmann version? That is one of the two most depressing movies I've ever seen, both directed by Baz Luhrmann. The other is his version of Romeo + Juliet. Even my husband gets depressed by the end of that one! LOL

My favorite safe movie is Home Alone (the original). I also love Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Ruthless People, and Hocus Pocus.

Moulin Rouge as in the Baz Luhrmann version?

Yes that one. I agree that the ending is quite depressing (and I also realised after posting that message late last night that maybe the attempted sex scene might be a trigger for some people so watch out!) but what cheered me up when I watched it a few days ago was the singing, dancing, bright dresses, references to other films and the team of bohemians behind Ewan McGregor.

Actually, it's probably not the best film to recommend, but it cheered me up the other night.

My wife and I watched Up! last night (in 3D) and I have to say it really moved me!

Just like Wall-E, the first half was an absolute masterpiece, and moved me to tears! Even right now, a day later, it's still playing on my mind.

I strongly, STRONGLY, recommend everyone see this film (preferably in 3D). And take some tissues.

Anything with Meg Ryan or Goldie Hawn.

Has anyone ever watched Goldie in 'Overboard'? I love that movie. Oh, and have you guys seen her in the 'First Wives Club'? Oh, and what about 'The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox' with Ryan O'Neil.

Another really good comfort movie is 'Big' with Tom Hanks and don't forget about 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' with Richard Dreifus (sp?).

Oh, and anything with Robin Williams.

I could go on and on obviously but I'm sounding like a windbag.

Take care all.
