Radical Acceptance can be understood through a lens of DBT or Buddhism. If you Google a lot of different information will come up.

Here are some examples of what is available.

Reading Marsha Lineham on Radical Acceptance could be useful. She's on YouTube.

Tara Brach has YouTube videos on Radical Acceptance and has written a book on it.

Radical Acceptance Part 1

Accepting Reality Using DBT Skills | Skyland Trail

You basically deeply go "It is what it is!" and you work on accepting whatever it is. You have to practice it as a skill every hour or ever day to build it up. It's a real work in progress for me.

I think radical acceptance is what I tend to do (now)......and I more quickly tend to accept situations as opposed to fight a situation's unfairness ( I was so always about how things "should be" rather than how they are in the here and now-and for years I'd focus on the unfairness and dig my claws into the should's. Now I'm working hard on living in the here and now, what's reality, which helps me be more productive, less stressed, and problem-solve more quickly (unless a past abuser or someone I love but is dysfunctional is involved.....then that all goes to shit).....but not usually for more than a day.....in the past could have been weeks!

That's brillant!

Do you do distorted cognitions of David Burns?

Do you do distorted cognitions of David Burns?

No, but I know what distorted cognitions are, and I have spent the last three years staying grounded enough to identify them......and work hard to counter them, journal about them, find their root cause or origin......and stomp them out.....they sneak back every so often.....but now infrequently. I haven't had any formal learning/reading by a David Burns.....
I have spent a lot of time with verbal self-praise when I catch myself doing some distorted thinking, following through without dissassociating, and following my daily plan and accomplishing what I set out to... ......and say "Good job." Gotten into the habit of that.....which has been reinforcing.. Tell me about David Burns distorted cognitions.

David Burns wrote a book called "Feeling Good" it's well worth the read. I tagged you in a poll in case you wanted the details.

He is on YouTube and you can listen to his talks.

He does podcasts as well.
