I find myself turning off the TV and having little interest or tolerance for this Syria stuff. I almost feel ill, so I'm following the avoid, ignore, cope comments from another thread. After coming out the other side of the OIF conflict, maybe I better understand what Nam vets were dealing with as they watch the political spin-up to validate engaging Iraq & Af'stan. They already knew what shit was about to happen to thousands of troops. I'm still proud of our duty and the professionalism of our service but it all seems tainted now that I've seen the cost. I'm sure if anything really happens and when the next wave of troops are deployed, I'll root for our folks to do well and come home in the best condition possible but at this point, I'm not sure I really want to be a spectator. I'll be there to pick up the pieces and help returning wounded warriors. I'm sure we will all have our chance as they start to post Introductions to this site. Right now, I just feel ill to see the political jockeying and knowing some of the potential cost of what may eventually happen.
